The New York Post reports that Knicks forward Amare Stoudemire received tragic news Monday when his brother was killed in a car accident early Monday morning in Florida. The Florida Highway Patrol said that Hazell Stoudemire was driving a Cadillac Escalade north on U.S. 27 in Lake Wales, Fla., at a high rate of speed and collided with the rear of a tractor trailer at around 1:45 a.m. ET, according to multiple media reports. The police said that the 35-year-old was not wearing a seatbelt and was declared dead at the scene. The team said that Stoudemire is traveling to Florida to be with his family and will not be with the team for Monday night's game against the Jazz in New York.

That said, he did not partake in the practice session two days after signing his contract. Oden's surgeries will now add up to five since joining the team back in 2007. Both surgeries will be similar to each other in that doctors will be clearing up debris from the knee. Oden is out indefinitely for the Blazers.

Riding adrenaline (and some pre-game treatment on his sprained ankle,) Jazz G Earl Watson took a close game and broke it open for Utah on Friday against the Lakers. Watson, who was not even expected to play in the game with the ankle injury sustained on Wednesday, scored eight points and had six assists in the fourth quarter as the Jazz beat the Lakers for the first time in three tries this season, 96-87. Watson finished the game with just the eight points but 11 assists overall in 26 minutes off the bench, as the Jazz took what was a tied game at the end of the third quarter and broke it open. "Man, Earl isn't even supposed to be playing right now, that's the crazy thing about it. He's out there on one leg, having an amazing game for us," Jazz F Paul Millsap said.
